ABOUT JOHN

John Michael Williams, singer, songwriter, director, writer, was born in a suburb north of Boston, the oldest of eight children. He began performing at a young age, and began writing music and children's books as a teenager. He was the protégé of James Houghton, accomplished opera performer and Dean of Music at Boston University. John's voice, Houghton said, "Is a gift that comes along rarely." John's first film, "The Easter Egg Escapade," is his "tour de force" (2/5/05 Boston Globe article, "At home with the other John Williams") "John wrote the screenplay, all the lyrics and the music, and the original children's book on which they're based. The film won John the coveted "Best Music in a Film" award at the Jackson Hole Film Festival, Best Animated Film at Idaho film festival Spudfest and honors at the Hollywood Film Festival. John played the lead character in a cast that includes Brooke Shields, James Woods, Natalie Cole, Sandra Bernhardt, Joey Pantoliano, Eli Wallach, and Nancy Kerrigan. John wrote the films' love theme and performed the duet with Natalie Cole. After completing "Easter Egg Escapade," John went on to write "Wondering William and the Sandman," "Rules of the Road Toad," and many others. John has performed on the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, NBC's Halloween on Ice, which he wrote, has recently directed the Guatemalan documentary film "No Money for Butter," (he also composed the score) and is presently directing a film about the Gloucester pregnancy pact story that recently made world wide news.
